- Move the router to a central, open spot, up high and away from walls.
- Keep it clear of microwaves, cordless phones, and thick metal or concrete.
- Connect to the 5 GHz band when you're nearby, since it's faster at short range.
- Restart the router so it picks a less crowded channel.
- Update the router's firmware from its settings page.

Do Wi-Fi extenders work?
They can fill a dead spot, but they often halve the speed at the extender. A mesh system usually gives a better, more seamless result for whole-home coverage.
Is 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz better?
5 GHz is faster but doesn't reach as far. 2.4 GHz is slower but travels further and through more walls. Use 5 GHz near the router and 2.4 GHz for distant rooms.
